The key word is "consider". It all depends on how much another team is willing to give up...

I'm not sure I want to go full season with Sorokin and Schneider. Seems pretty risky to me.

Very risky Jimmy. I believe the Isles do not have an young goalie options for backup either.

Trade him to the Avs for Francouz and Newhook? (is Francouz healthy?)
Or Johansson and Graves or a 1st?
Avs may need a goalie and Varly would OK that.

Nope, dressed for a couple but played zero minutes.

I sure hope Seattle doesn't take him in the expansion draft

have to do it in my opinion. is it risky? yes. but we need to make some bold moves with our cap situation. sorokin was great in his first year here, and is going to be 26 entering this season. he is seasoned and ready. we should be able to get a cheaper alternative to back up sorokin that will do well in this system. it gives the isles a lot more room to work with. isles need to add, not just bring back the same team. varly was great, but his age, current value, and our franchise goalie being ready to take over...now is the time.

I would highly doubt that the Isles would leave the backup role in the hands of Schnieder. If they do make a move and it is an if. It would need to get a decent return. I would pursue Halak as possible replacement as he would be a 1/3 of the price of Varly.

Trade Varly bc his value is at his highest right now and team could bring in another vet G to share duties. I totally trust Korn and not worried whoever comes in.

He's only played 22 NHL games. I think it's too soon to call him seasoned. He had a rough start but looked great down the stretch. However, even in the KHL he's never played more than 40 games in a season. It's a tough ask for him to become number one and play 55 games or more.

It doesn't seem like Lou's style to gamble on Sorokin. I'm not sure about what Varly would bring back. Other GM's would know it's a salary dump. Plus as good as he was this season, he's 33, and he was playing on a defense first team.

Can’t imagine Lou trading Varly without having a solid goalie as a replacement. Goalies are his top priority going back to NJ days. Riding Sorokin this soon in his NHL career doesn’t seem like a Lou thing to do. Excited to see how this summer plays out though. Have a feeling Palms stays. Czikas too. Hopefully on friendly deals. Kind of need to be if he expects to get the other RFA’s done.

There are a few desperate teams out there looking for a goalie. Their window to win is small so I would think there are at least three teams. The Islanders do not have to trade Varly. Sorokin has arbitration rights as RFA. Lou might be able to get him less on a 1 year deal giving him more time to balance the roster. Sorokin barring any health issues will be the Isles goalie for the next 5 to 7 years.

Sure, I don't think anyone would disagree with that. I would like to see another transition season before handing over the reigns. My guess is the Islander organization feels the same way.

Looks like the Bolts gonna sweep Habs. Thought the Habs had a little more to offer but looking like TB just too tough for them. Not knocking them but the north was pretty weak to begin with. Not sure what happened w Vegas. Maybe they too were weaker than thought. Shoulda woulda coulda but the isles bringing them to 7 and losing 1-0 on shorty shows how close this team is. Hoping some of the guys that need contracts realize this and do some hometown signing to remain with the squad. Plus some of the younger guys coming up should be ready. New building. Fuk. Can’t wait until next season!

The Habs may find a way to win the next one ... maybe. After that they are done.

Isles are the most underrated team in the NHL and hopefully will still be next year.

Maybe Vegas needs to fire DeBoer and hire Babs, a proven winner!

Vegas has like 4 guys that can score and when they went cold the series was over. Only a few teams have 4 lines they can role that can score and play d and the isles are one of them. If the Habs get swept the isles will have beaten the bolts more times than 3 teams combined

Brutal Cup for the NHL. Isles/Habs would have been very competitive.
